Please be aware that there is some maintenance taking place on the Movie Set over your selected dates. This work will continue from 1 June – 30 September 2025. During this time, the main tour route will be unaffected however some contractors, maintenance and construction equipment will be working on site in the gardens and rear of the Party Field during your experience. Bag End, Bagshot Row and The Green Dragon Inn will not be affected.

Our friendly staff can assist you in booking your tour or purchasing something special to remember your adventure to Hobbiton Movie Set.
The Shire's Rest™ Cafe
The Shire's Rest Cafe offers a tranquil setting for you to relax with a great cup of coffee and a classic country cafe meal in authentic New Zealand surroundings. We are a fully licensed facility with a great selection of New Zealand beer and cider. The Shire’s Rest Cafe provides charming views of the rolling farmland and Kaimai Ranges while you enjoy a bite to eat before or after your tour experience. Sit back, relax and enjoy your time in our quaint converted woolshed before you escape into Hobbiton Movie Set. The Shire’s Rest Cafe is open seven days a week, before the first tour leaves until 3.30pm (extended hours in the Summer). Blackboard & Snack menu available until 2.30pm Cabinet food available until close.
The Shire™ Store
The Shire Store features an extensive selection of souvenirs to remind you of your visit to the Hobbiton™ Movie Set. Situated to the right of The Shire’s Rest™ Cafe, the Shire Store stocks the exclusive Hobbit™ Southfarthing™ beverage range, an extensive range of Weta Collectibles, Tolkien books, Location Guidebooks, exclusive branded clothing and much more are all available for purchase. Make sure you allow plenty of time for a visit to our store to soak in the themed atmosphere and browse our special products. The Shire Store is open from before the first tour departure until 5.00pm with extended hours in the summer. Hobbiton Movie Set does not have an online store.
The Shire's Rest™ Ticketing Office
The Shires Rest Ticketing Office is situated below The Shires Rest Cafe. Our friendly ticketing team can assist you in booking your tour of Hobbiton Movie Set. All guests who book online please make your way to the ticketing office to check-in and exchange your booking confirmation for tour tickets. Please ensure you have checked in at least 20 minutes before your tour is due to depart. The Shire's Rest Ticketing Office is open seven days. We open 30 minutes before our first tour departs and close when the last tour departs. You can view live availability and tour departure times on our website.
